Directing
As a director, Marie focuses on leading a collaborative process and cultivating an honest and playful rehearsal space. They prioritize the well-being and safety of every individual involved in a production, ensuring that voices are heard and boundaries are respected.
Rehearsal time is spent tossing around ideas, experimenting with movement, trying weird things, and finding how the script intersects with the real actors in space and their life experiences. They find that this approach allows actors to bring a lot of themselves and allows the overall story to be told in a very authentic way.
Marie primarily works on queer new work and is drawn to deeply human stories, focusing on identity, resilience, and the connections between people. They are passionate about storytelling that includes a clear political or philosophical statement and are committed to making theater that sparks conversations and challenges people to think differently.
