As a director, Marie focuses on leading a collaborative process and cultivating trust and play in the rehearsal space. They prioritize the well-being and safety of every individual involved in a production, working to ensure that voices are heard and boundaries are respected.
Directing
Rehearsal time is spent tossing around ideas, experimenting with movement, trying weird things, and finding how the script intersects with the real actors in space and their life experiences. They find that this approach allows actors to bring a lot of themselves and allows the overall story to be told in the most authentic way.
Marie primarily works on queer new work and is drawn to deeply human stories, focusing on identity, resilience, and the connections between people. They are passionate about storytelling that includes a clear political or philosophical statement and are committed to making theater that sparks conversations and challenges people to think differently.
Recent credits include How Do People Get Anywhere Good? With Red Thread Theatre Collective; DTR at Sapphest; Temporary with Irrevocable Conditions; and Linger at Chain Summer One Act Festival.
